Women in Semo village in Sigatoka will be able to gain new skills and knowledge on strategic and practical skills training from their newly opened Resource Centre.
The Ministry for Women had assisted the Semo Women’s Group with $30,720.77 to build a Resource Centre, which will be a great platform for connecting women to markets.
During the opening of the Semo Women’s Resource Centre, Minister for Women, Rosy Akbar says they can sell their own handicrafts, attires, seashell crafts and other items which they can brand and bear the Fiji Made Logo.
Akbar says this new development demonstrates on the Fijian Governments unprecedented commitment to advance gender equality and economic empowerment for women.
She says such a move is a great encouragement to other rural communities to support the empowerment of women.
She adds that the ministry will help them in their journey will ensuring that the Centre will achieve the objectives of connecting women to market and a place where women come together to learn and share.
Meanwhile, the Ministry has established 68 Women Resource Centres and Women Centre Extensions.
