The Minister for Employment said they need to improve their selection process under the Seasonal Workers Program.
Semi Koroilavesau said based on the individual performance report by the company, they need to improve the selection process to ensure that the right people with commitment to work and make a difference are selected than those that wish to take advantage of an opportunity to go and visit Australia.
The Minister met with the management of Plant Grow Pick in Australia from where the first group of seven Fijian workers walked off their accommodation.
Koroilavesau said the Union representatives informed them they are taking a case of exploitation of one Fijian worker from Plant Grow Pick to Fair Works Ombudsman and is pending judgement.
This company recruited about 123 Fijian workers under Seasonal Workers Program last year.
The Minister also visited Advance Farming Services where some of the Fijian workers were complaining about their work conditions.
Koroilavesau said six Fijian workers who were all happy with their work conditions decided to remain with their employer.
He said the investigation into this case is still pending with the Fair Works Ombudsman.
