The man accused of causing the death of a 32-year-old man who was arrested by a citizen last Saturday in Nasinu has been charged and produced in court.
Police say Sekove Pio was charged with a count of murder and produced at a special court sitting in the Nasinu Magistrates Court.
The 32-year-old man died at the Valelevu Health Center after he was brought to the Nasinu Police Station under citizen’s arrest last weekend.
Police had earlier said the victim was arrested by a citizen after he allegedly damaged his vehicle which was parked along Narere Stage 1 last Saturday.
They say the victim was allegedly heavily intoxicated at the time of the arrest and was brought to the Nasinu Police Station.
Police say that after a while the victim complained of being ill and was rushed to the Makoi Health Center for treatment.
He was then transferred to the Valelevu Health Centre where he passed away last Saturday.
Sekove Pio has been remanded in custody and his case will be recalled on the 21st of this month in the Nasinu Magistrates Court.
