A 44-year-old security officer of Nasinu has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by the Suva High Court for raping a woman.
High Court Judge Justice Achala Wengappuli has also imposed a non-parole period of nine years for Tui Mateo Koli who was found guilty for raping a 22-year-old tertiary student in Naboro in 2013.
The court was told that Koli offered the woman a lift and later made her drink alcohol.
He drove his car along a road which ran into the interior and took her to a lonely place where the incident happened.
Koli then brought the woman in his vehicle to Lami town and did not stop when a Policeman signaled as the woman was crying.
The woman having seen a truck coming behind the car threw her bag out of the moving car in order to get their attention and jumped out.
She later reported the matter to Police.
