The search for the 3‑year‑old girl and a 45‑year‑old boat captain who went missing in the Makogai waters has been called off.
Chief Operations Officer ACP Rusiate Tudravu says that the decision was made last night and the families of the two missing persons have been informed of the decision by Police officers in the Eastern Division.
However, Tudravu says Police will continue to call on mariners and those living in the coastal areas to call Police if they have any information.
The Police Search and Rescue Centre had revealed that the Fiji Navy received a call from a Captain Randell about a fibreglass boat that capsized near Makogai Island on Sunday.
The nine people on board the boat were from Waitovu village in Ovalau.
Seven people were rescued.
