Scouting is a vital force in the lives of boys and girls and the program they take part in allows them a holistic development.
This was highlighted by the President of Fiji Jioji Konrote who chaired the Fiji Scouts Association annual general meeting.
Konrote says our duty is to train and guide young citizens of this country so they are equipped to lead us peacefully to the future with dignity.
He says scouting plays an important role in every civilized community today.
President of the Scouting Association Abhay Nand says the scouts movement continue to grow in Fiji and its success has been possible through the remarkable voluntary efforts of many ordinary citizens.
Nand says plans are underway to develop a National Strategic Plan of 2017-2020 that would guide our programs to help evaluate its achievements.
Meanwhile, President Jioji Konrote was inducted the new Chief Scout of Fiji in 2016, replacing the former president Ratu Epeli Nailatikau who retired from office.
