Schools cannot hold any kind of fundraising without the concent of the Ministry of Education.
The Deputy Secretary of Education Jai Narayan said there is a clear directive that has been given to school heads, Head Teachers and Principals not to fundraise without the Ministry of Education’s approval.
Narayan said any school not complying will be disciplined through the normal Ministry of Education Disciplinary Regulations.
He added there will be some cases where the PTA will be having their own internal fundraising but the rule stands no parent or child will be compelled to pay any levy nor any target be set for any amount from parents or children.
He said the Ministry of Education will not approve any permission where parents’ contribution will be compulsory, all fundraising will be on voluntary basis.
Narayan added during any occasions or functions in the school, instructions to all school heads are that they are not to do any collections from students or parents, whether cash or in kind.
