The Registrar of Political Parties Mohammed Saneem has suspended One Fiji Party for 30 days with immediate effect for contravening section 26 (2) of the Political Parties Decree.
The section requires all parties to provide to the Registrar, within 3 months after the end of each financial year, the record of accounts of its income, expenditure, assets and liabilities audited by an auditor certified by the Fiji Institute of Accountants.
Saneem says that One Fiji Party was required to submit its audited accounts by 31st March, 2016 however until today, the Elections Office has not received anything despite numerous reminders being sent to the party.
The party has 60 days to remedy the breach or face deregistration as a political party.
During this period, One Fiji Party cannot operate, function, represent or hold itself out to be a political party.
