SODELPA hands in flag petition to the goverment

The Social Democratic Liberal Party Youth Council has submitted about 7,000 individual reproductions of the current Fiji flag as entries for the competition for a new national flag.

SODELPA parliamentarian, Viliame Gavoka says this was their gift to the Prime Minister from thousands of citizens, who lodged the petition calling for a referendum.

Gavoka again called for a referendum as he says they had earlier given a petition in parliament which had 2,000 signatures.

The Prime Minister has already said that the process will go ahead.

However he is disappointed that the opposition will not submit the names for the national panel.
