The Social Democratic Liberal Party and the Christian Mission Fellowship are not confirming publicly on why the party was allowed to distribute the SODELPA election campaign DVDs through some church ministers to the members of the congregation.
Some concerned members of the CMF congregation had contacted us saying that some senior officials of the church gave the green light for the distribution of the SODELPA DVDs.
The church members were concerned as they said that the church should be neutral as members should be free to support any party and the church executives should not push the agenda of only one political party.
When Fijivillage contacted SODELPA General Secretary Pio Tabaiwalu, he said that the party distributed the DVDs widely before the elections.
Tabaiwalu said that they did not target any religion in particular. He adds that they went as far as Nadroga to distribute the DVDs.
However, he refused to confirm if SODELPA distributed the DVDs to the CMF ministers.
General Secretary of the Christian Mission Fellowship Church Pastor Emosi Toroca said he is not aware of the distribution of the DVDs.
When questioned by Fijivillage if the directive was given by senior church officials, he said that he did not have any information.
We have questioned the President of the Christian Mission Fellowship Reverend Suliasi Kurulo.
He said he is in Hawaii and will then go to South America.
He said that he can only comment when he returns to Fiji.
