The Suva City Council has invested $705,000 on two new garbage trucks and a shredder machine which is expected to service more areas in the City and nearby areas.
Minister for Local Environment, Housing and Environment Parveen Bala says he is pleased to see the positive development of Fiji’s capital city in contributing to improved service delivery.
Bala says about 18% of $5 million of the Council’s budget is being utilised on waste management of which on average 80 tonnes of garbage is collected from the city for disposal at the Naboro land field everyday.
Bala says the Council has further plans on investing on two more garbage trucks by the end of this year or beginning of next year.
