10 Russian officials are in the country to conduct a week-long training on the use of arms and equipment that were given by the Russian government as aid last month.
Minister for Defence and National Security Timoci Natuva says these weapons have different capabilities compared to the weapons that are with the RFMF and the training will help their instructors.
He says an official handover of the weapons and equipment will be made between the Russian Military and the RFMF next week.
Natuva confirms that the weapons and equipment will be deployed to Fiji’s peacekeeping missions in Iraq, Syria and Lebanon.
This military consignment is worth $19 million and is an aid from Russia.
