The Fiji Roads Authority says rock protection work is required for Koronivia Road in Nausori before any sealing works will start on the unsealed section.
A number of residents from the area have raised concerns as to why the contractor took off after just sealing part of the road earlier this year.
When questioned, FRA’s Robert Sen stated that the unsealed section has been left out due to failure caused on the road side drain due to back flow of water from the nearest driveway access.
He says the drain in this area is in deteriorated section compared to the rest and it will be a risk for FRA if they seal this section of the road and the new sealed road could have fallen into the drain.
He says the contractor will have to carry out rock protection work to create stability and once finalised, they will move back in and get the unsealed section sealed.
It has not been confirmed as to when work on this section will start.
