Roads closed in the Western division due to flooding

A number of roads and bridges in the Western Division have been affected by flood waters and are closed for all traffic.

In Ra, Savusavu bridge, Vunikavikaloa area road, Naqoro flats, Rewasa Mid road, Nayaulevu bridge, Market area and Rewasa bridge are under flood waters and closed to all traffic.

According to a government statement, Ra High school, Vuni-kavikaloa High School, Barotu school and Dobuilevu Muslim School have also been closed as the whole of Nalawa is without power supply.

In Tavua, the road leading to Nabuna village is underwater,

Yaladro flat is closed to all traffic and Mataniwai road is under 2 feet of water.

In Ba, Manitawa road, Cemetery road in Raiwai, Vutuni bridge, Toge bridge, Keiyasi, Draiba bridge, Matewale bridge and Rabaraba bridge are closed to all traffic.

 

 

The flooded Naqoro flats - no vehicles can get into or out of town.Heavy rain since 12am has led to flooding in Rakiraki. The town has been closed. All schools are also closed. Vehicle access to Tavua has stopped as the Naqoro flats is flooded. (Met Fiji advise at 9:50am) FLOOD WARNING -A FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR ALL LOW LYING AREAS ALONG RAKIRAKI RIVER INCLUDING RAKIRAKI TOWN. SITUATION - TROPICAL DEPRESSION TD09F[997HPA] WAS ANALYSED NEAR 15.6S 171.2E OR ABOUT 710KM WEST-NORTHWEST OF NADI AT 6AM TODAY. IT POSES NO DIRECT THREAT TO FIJI, BUT THE ASSOCIATED CLOUD AND RAIN AFFECTS THE GROUP. River Levels at 9.00AM: 3.46m which is 1.46m above warning level.
