A 55‑year‑old retired military officer has been charged with causing the death of 23‑year‑old, Watisoni Rokosau from Raiwaqa.
The man has been charged with one count of murder and will appear in court in the next hour.
Rokosau was arrested as a suspect at the Raiwaqa Police Station on Monday morning in an alleged case of damaging property.
Spokesperson Ana Naisoro says the 23‑year‑old man was taken for medical treatment when he was brought in by police officers.
He was admitted in hospital and passed away on Tuesday.
Naisoro confirms that none of the police officers were involved in the assault.
