Residents of Waikasaniura in Wainadoi want authorities to quickly do something about their road which easily gets flooded and cuts access to hundreds of people living in the area.
Monika Prasad says she reached home at midnight yesterday as their road was flooded and was not accessible. She says they had to walk through knee deep flood waters to reach their home last night.
Prasad says it is an ongoing problem as the river that is running next to their road is the same level of the road and flood waters easily come on the road whenever there is heavy rain.
She says Fiji Roads Authority’s contractor only come to grade the road and there has not been any dredging works in the river nor any attempts made to uplift the road.
We have contacted the Fiji Roads Authority and they are looking into it.
