Residents of Vunivau Settlements in Labasa received good news from the Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum last night as he revealed to them that the government has secured a 99 year leases for them.
The Attorney General made this statement while speaking during a talanoa session at the Qawa Primary School in Labasa last night.
Sayed-Khaiyum told the residents that the government has paid the landowners.
The Attorney General also says that the government sincerely believes that more Fijians should own their own homes and secure leases because what it does is develop and builds communities.
He also explained the process for purchasing a land as announced in the 2018/2019 National Budget.
People in Labasa can collect the forms for the payment of the first piece of land from the Legal Aid office in Labasa where it will be processed before the payout is made.
