26 families of Amgali settlement in Nadi have a big reason to celebrate as for the first time they now have power supply in their area.
An investment of around $308,031.56 was made by government for the grid extension and house wiring project.
It will provide a reliable supply of electricity to 26 households that is approximately 117 people, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Jone Usamate has thanked these families for their patience, and for trusting and believing in the Government to bring about this development.
Usamate says for too long, these people in Amgali have been deprived of having access to electricity however, through the commitment of this government to leave no Fijians behind, the people in Amgali and their children will now have the opportunity to enjoy and share the benefits of this important infrastructure.
Usamate says they know that 96% of our people have access to electricity and this has risen by 7% from 2007.
He says for these next few years, they will target the remaining 7,500 households.
