The problem of road access was a common issue that was raised with Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama today at a Public Consultation with the i-Taukei Land Trust Board and the Sugar Industry stakeholders in the Western Division.

Residents and farmers of Sigatoka today had an opportunity to raise certain issues that was affecting them over previous years.

A Sigatoka farmer says they have had problems in terms of transporting produce to the market.

She says drivers do not want to come right up to the farms and this has been a challenge over the years.

A cane farmer from Lomawai also says he is facing problems with drainage as his farm is always flooded.

He says this damages the cane and he has asked the Prime Minister if he could get assistance with drainage.

Bainimarama has assured the people who raised concerns with him that this will be a thing of the past and he will notify the relevant authorities.
