The Fiji Export Business Council said Fiji is very competitive in doing business when compared to other Melanesian countries.
This is according to a Cost of Doing Business survey report which is a survey of selected costs across MSG countries and Fiji’s manufacturing sector.
The report was compiled by the Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation and the Fiji Export Council.
The report which was launched at the Grand Pacific Hotel last night reveals electricity charges in Fiji are the lowest which is 39 cents for units up to 14,999 kilowatts per month.
In Vanuatu it is $1.03, Solomon Islands has $1.57 while Papua New Guinea has 52 cents.
The survey reveals that diesel and petrol prices per litre in Fiji are also lower compared to these countries.
In Fiji the local telephone charges per minute is 8 cents which is the cheapest compared to Vanuatu which is 48 cents, Solomon Islands is 17 cents and PNG 49 cents.
The report also said Company Tax in Fiji is 20% while Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea have 30%.
However, the Fiji Export Council wishes to see some regularity reforms by the government to ensure the cost of doing business in Fiji goes down which is higher compared to Australia and New Zealand.
