The Fiji Roads Authority has assured residents of Kavanagasau, Sigatoka that remedial works on worst sections of Kavanagasau Road will be undertaken in the next few days if the weather is favorable.
The FRA says grading of the road is currently in progress.
The comments come after residents of Kavanagasau raised serious concerns that their road is in a pathetic condition and urgent maintenance work is required.
Some people have told us that the road lacks gravel and vehicles frequently get stuck on the muddy road.
They say light vehicles are just unable to pass through some portions of the Kavanagasau Road that has big holes.
The FRA says the main issue for Kavanagasau Road is the drainage system.
The FRA adds concerns that the roads have gone worse over the years is not true.
It says that for the past five years of FRA’s existence, they have invested heavily in slowly raising the road level through targeted maintenance re‑sheeting and also sealing in front of villages and slope sections to improve the level of service.
