FijiFirst Candidate Jone Usamate said that Fiji is a secular state because belief is personal.
Speaking to about 40 people at a campaign meeting in Nadawa earlier this week, Usamate said that we cannot force our beliefs on someone else.
He also said that we cannot force belief through a law and tell someone to be a Christian.
He stressed that if Fiji is to be a Christian state it should be reflected in what people believe in.
Usamate then also stressed to the people present at the campaign meeting to refrain from discriminating different religions.
