The person responsible to ensure that improved and upgraded infrastructure and transport services are delivered to the country said the reform of the civil service is necessary to ensure that the people get the best service.
Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Pio Tikoduadua said the right people are also needed to lead the different departments of the civil service.
Tikoduadua said he welcomes the Prime Minister’s decision to ensure that the civil service reforms commence next year.
He said it will definitely be done as the government is determined to deliver the best ever civil service to the people of the country.
Finance Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has revealed in the 2015 National Budget that a comprehensive review will be conducted by the World Bank to restructure the civil service into a lean, efficient and cost effective organisation - one that is modern and responsive to the evolving needs of society as well as challenges in the global environment.
An allocation of $500,000 has been set aside in the 2015 budget for this exercise.
