A major overhaul of the public service in 2015 is expected through the assistance of Fiji’s development partners.
Consultants from the World Bank are expected to move into the civil service to evaluate the public service structure.
The Finance Minister said leadership of the civil service needs to be improved and many departments need to be restructured.
Sayed-Khaiyum said government should be able to recruit, train and retain the best people in the civil service.
Reform procedures will also include the procurement of goods to ensure that they do not just go for the cheapest goods but the best products that will deliver the best service.
