Minister for Waterways Dr Mahendra Reddy had to withdraw a statement in parliament today regarding pension being given to people outside parliament.
Reddy had said that NFP Leader Biman Prasad had said that the government was not looking after people who had been deposed in the coup who should also be given pension.
Prasad said he was talking about people who had been in parliament and were removed in 1987, 2000 and 2006 but had served their term in those years.
He said he had never spoken about people outside parliament and said how ridiculous can the minister be to suggest something as such.
Speaker Dr Jiko Luveni agreed with Prasad and asked Reddy to withdraw his comment.
Reddy then withdrew his comment.
