Minister for Education, Mahendra Reddy has announced the launch of the first phase of the distribution of Educational Cartoons to Early Childhood Education Centres and members of the public.
The Minister stated that the Ministry will be preparing Educational Cartoons and distributing it to ECE Centres and parents so that children at home can watch these Educational Cartoons.
In the 1st Phase, the Ministry is now distributing 29 Cartoons developed by UNICEF based on Kenyan background for children in Fiji.
The cartoons cover a number of areas of learning including reading English, learning how to count, understanding the importance of going to School, learning about family, importance of sanitation and understanding nature.
Reddy highlights that these materials will greatly assist the nannies/baby sitters and parents to provide meaningful educational materials to the children while at home rather than watching movies which does not have much educational content.
