28‑year‑old Tarun Kumar Rawat who murdered a 51-year-old man in 2011 in Nadi has been sentenced to life imprisonment by Suva High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo.
Justice Temo says Rawat has to serve a minimum of 17 years before a pardon may be considered by the President of Fiji.
Judge Temo says Rawat had no right to use violence to solve a relationship problem.
The court had earlier heard that Rawat was having sex with the man when an argument broke out between the two.
He told the Suva High Court that he received money from the deceased on a few occasions and the man also wanted to have sex with him.
