International School Suva athlete, Maia Ramsden won the first gold medal of Day 2 of the 2016 Coca-Cola Games.
Ramsden won gold in the 1,500 metres Open Girls event.
She ran a time of 4 minutes 55 seconds and beat the record holder, Mereseini Naidau of Jasper.
Naidau’s record which was set in 2011, still stands at 4 minutes 54 seconds.
Naidau took the silver medal today while Ita Senitarawau of Ballentine Memorial School took bronze.
Ramsden said she has really worked hard this year to win gold.
Natabua athletes won gold in the Sub Junior, Junior and Intermediate 1,500 metres events.
Sevenaia Ducivaki won gold for Natabua in the 1,500 metres Sub Junior Boys final, Colin Vassie of Natabua won gold in the 1,500 metres Junior final while Isikeli Waseaqali came first in the Intermediate Boys final.
Viliame Dileqa of RKS won the Senior Boys 1,500 metres in a close race.
Iliesa Ratete of Natabua took the silver while Samuela Digitaki of Gau Secondary took the bronze.
