Rako Pasefika wins big at FPRA Music Awards

"We can take Fijian music to the world if we all work together."

Those are the words of Rako Pasefika group leader, Paul Dominiko while receiving their award for Best New Artist during the 2016 Fiji Performing Right Association Music Awards last night at the Grand Pacific Hotel.

Dominiko says they are honored to be recognized in this year’s awards.

Rako Pasefika formed by a group of Rotuman and Polynesian artists won the awards in four categories which includes Best Composition, Best English Song, International Achievement Award and Best New Artist.

George Fiji Veikoso, Ilisavani Cava and Paulini Curuenavuli were among some of the well-known overseas based artists.

Best Music Video: Kula Kei Uluivuya for Noqu Senikau

Most Popular Song: Inside Out for the song Sweet Talking

Best Hindi Song: Kahawa Gaile Saawra by Praneel Sami Don

Best i‑Taukei Song: Nasio Domoni Na Veikilai Lekaleka Mosimosi

Best Hip Hop Song: Dave Lavaki for the song Stir it Up

Artist of the Year: Voqa Ni Delai Dokidoki

Outstanding service to Fijian music: Etonia Lote

Best English Song: Mama Earth by Rako Pasefika

Artist of the Year: Voqa Ni Delai Dokidoki

Best Composition: Hanua Helava Roko Pasefika
