The Rakiraki community has raised some important issues affecting their lives in the first of its kind Talanoa Session with the Members of Parliament at the Tanoa Hotel in Rakiraki yesterday.

The Citizens Constitutional Forum in collaboration with the International Foundation for Electoral Systems and the International Republican Institute has introduced this Talanoa Session.

CCF Program Manager Ken Cokanasiga said issues like the renewal of land issues, reducing VAT and Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji fees were discussed at the session.

Members of parliament have promised the members of the public that their issues will be looked into and if possible will be taken to parliament.

He said CCF is confident that this process is going to positively impact both the community members and the members of parliament and hopes that this kind of engagement between government and its citizens continues throughout Fiji in the future.

The Talanoa session will be held at the Waterfront Hotel in Lautoka today and tomorrow while they will be at the Friendly North Inn Labasa on Friday and Saturday.

All three urban areas will have a penal of six different members of parliament from Fiji First, Social Democratic and Liberal Party and National Federation Party who are being represented in Parliament during the sessions.
