Tavenisa Raceva who has been found guilty of suffocating her new born baby in 2017 has been placed under supervisory probation for 2 years by High Court Judge, Justice Salesi Temo.
The woman will not face any jail time but will be supervised by the probation officer of Navua.
The supervisory court will be the Navua Magistrates Court.
Justice Temo says the woman has to undergo counseling, remain in her residence in Navua and if she fails to follow the orders of the court or commits another offence she is liable to be sentenced by the court.
In his sentence, Justice Temo said the woman was finding it hard to make ends meet as she was raising her children as a single mom.
Justice Temo said the woman and her family were living in extreme poverty with support from no one and this unfortunately led her to commit the offence of infanticide.
