Opposition Leader, Sitiveni Rabuka’s two petitions were ruled in-admissible in parliament.
Rabuka’s first petition was in relation to travel bans on former Fiji citizens, Dr. Brij and Padma Lal and others and the second petition related to supporting the indigenous language and mother tongue Vosa Vakaviti.
Rabuka says he thanked the Speaker, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau for his ruling that Parliament did not have the authority to consider the two petitions.
Rabuka says he wants to thank everyone who signed on these two petitions.
He says it is unfortunate for those who have been banned from entering Fiji, despite their contributions to the nation, and their close and intimate links to Fiji, have no further recourse, given they cannot challenge the decision of the Minister for Immigration to declare them as “prohibited immigrants” in court.
