200 new Police recruits were today told by the Commissioner of Police Sitiveni Qiliho that the Force is not in the business of officers giving excuses or dragging their feet.
Qiliho highlighted this in the wake of the terrorist shooting in Christchurch last week.
He says the attack has brought the threat of terrorism even closer to our doors and collaboration between Pacific countries is needed to better protect our respective borders.
Qiliho highlighted that while the nation mourns with the victims’ family, it was also the chance for law enforcement agencies in the Pacific region to re-assess their security landscape.
He says that he hopes not to regret the criteria of his recruitment.
The Commissioner of Police also told the recruits that the next four months will be a futile exercise if they do not realise that their lives now belong to the people they serve.
