The Commissioner of Police Sitiveni Qiliho who is currently in Bangkok has held bilateral meetings with the Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police, Chaktip Chaijinda at the Royal Thai Police Headquarters.

Police say discussions focused on the establishment of formal police cooperation under a Memorandum of Understanding between the Royal Thai Police and the Fiji Police through Fiji’s Ministry of Defence and National Security.

They say given the increased exchanges between Fiji and Thailand in various sectors of development and trade, both Police Chiefs agreed for a formal police cooperation initiative to be pursued.

The Royal Thai Police Chief has also encouraged the formalisation to reflect other areas of exchanges in training as well as people to people exchange.

Qiliho also had the opportunity to hold talks with the heads of the Royal Thai Police Narcotics Bureau and the Royal Thai Police Education Bureau.

The Commissioner is being accompanied by Director International Relations SSP Ulaiasi Ravula, Fiji's Counsellor at the Fiji High Commission in Kuala Lumpur Pita Tagicakirewa and PSO Inspector Aisake Kafoa.
