National Federation Party MP Lenora Qereqeretabua will be speaking on the need for Environmental Impact Assessments on proposed developments on the last day of the 2019 Construction Industry Council conference which will be held from the 13th to the 15th of June at the Grand Pacific Hotel.
Qereqeretabua believes that there is still much to be done with regards to environmental approvals.
The Opposition parliamentarian will discuss the processes, existing laws and the current state of environmental consideration in the construction industry.
Qereqeretabua says Fiji would do well to seek the expertise of environmental experts, activists and scientists who are currently working and operating in Fiji.
She adds that she would like those in the construction industry to leave the conference with a greater appreciation of the considerable effect the construction industry has on the environment, both directly and indirectly.
