An application through a special form has to be given to the Police Commissioner if you want to hold a public meeting.
Minister for Defence and National Security, Timoci Natuva says this application has to be submitted 7 days prior to the date in which the meeting will be held.
Opposition Leader, Ro Teimumu Kepa requested the Minister for Defence and National Security in parliament today to indicate the procedures for permit application for public meetings in urban areas and rural or village communities.
Natuva says only marriage and funeral processions do not require a permit application.
Opposition MP, Viliame Gavoka then asked if permit applications can be streamlined to ensure that the process of applying for a permit may be the same for everyone.
Natuva replied to this by saying that the current permit application process is efficient enough for everyone to understand.
