Members of the public are advised to try and always seek clarification on any matter that involves the Suva City Council, as they will always have officers available and ready to assist.
Suva City Council Director Administration, Asaeli Tokalau made this comment after minibus drivers had earlier this week raised concern for being booked for parking in the allocated parking spaces, that had been sanctioned for minibuses by the Suva City Council.
Eastern Minibus Association President, Naresh Chand also claimed that the booking was done without any explanation.
While speaking to Fijivillage Tokalau confirmed that the minibus drivers had been booked under the LTA Act on the Failure to Obey Traffic Direction of the Land Transport Act of 1998 for failure to obey traffic direction as directed by Police or SCC officers in the manner of approaching or departing from a place.
Tokalau adds that the minibus drivers were also booked under the LTA Traffic Regulations.
He has also confirmed that the minibus drivers were not present when SCC Authorised officers were at the site to book vehicles.
Tokalau says that he has had a meeting with the minibus operators yesterday.
