The senior Maternity Matron at the CWM Hospital, Aliote Galuvakadua says they have discarded the idea of bottle feeding but there is a provision to solve the situation where mothers cannot breast feed their baby at all.
Galuvakadua says they have come across situations where mothers are totally unable to breast‑feed their babies because they can’t produce enough milk.
She says in this case, mothers can consult the doctor where they will be given a prescribed formula and the babies should be fed only by a cup.
She also adds that the expecting mothers should be mentally ready to breast feed their babies.
Meanwhile, a new breast feeding clinic room at the CWM Maternity Unit was opened on Friday.
