The Ministry of Forests and Fisheries is holding discussions with stakeholders and landowners on how to protect the timber in the country.
The Forests Principle Utilisation Officer, Semi Dranibaka said the discussions include how to protect the timbers from termites and how to go through proper quarantine procedures.
Dranibaka said the forest department has received complaints from international markets that the local timber is not of good quality.
He highlighted that in some cases the quarantine department also does not allow timbers to pass through.
