Protecting and obeying the command structure is lacking in the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.
Those are the words of the Commander of the RFMF Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto while speaking during his inaugural parade at Queen Elizabeth Barracks this morning.
Naupoto said after his return to the Force, he has noticed that some of the soldiers do not follow the chain of command.
He said the command structure is the proven structure that was introduced when the Force was formed.
He said every section in the Force has its command structure where they follow the right procedure on how to report or solve a matter within the Force.
Naupoto stressed that most of the time, the soldiers disrespect their command structure where they do not report to their Sergeant and direct their report to the top ranks in the Force.
He said they should follow the proper channel on how to report any matter.
Meanwhile, he also highlighted that the RFMF should work together as a whole and protect the constitution and look after the safety and security of the people of Fiji.
He added that their job has never been an individual effort.
Naupoto also said that the soldiers should set an example.
The RFMF Commander told the soldiers that they should pick up any rubbish lying around to show that they care for the environment.
