The application for registration as a political party by the proposed Fiji United Freedom Party under the Political Parties Decree has been rejected by the Registrar of Political Parties.

The Elections Office has revealed that during the analysis of the application, it was found that the applicant did not provide the minimum required valid member signatures.

Out of the 5,489 signatures provided with the application, only 3822 members were valid for the purposes of the application.

The minimum number of required valid signatures is 5,000.

The proposed President of the proposed party, Jagath Karunaratne could not be reached for a comment.
