Market vendors in Labasa will no longer have to sell their products under the sun or in the wet weather condition as they are expected to have proper facilities at the Labasa market by next year.
This is according to Labasa Town Special Administrator, Vijay Chand who said that the extension work of the Labasa market is progressing well and is expected to finish by June next year.
Chand said the new extension will cost $500,000 and will cater for 500 vendors.
He added that this will also create a sleeping space for vendors who come from the interior of Vanua Levu.
A 35-year market vendor, Rakesh Chand said the extension work will create more and better space for vendors.
Meanwhile, market vendors have been allocated temporary sheds to sell their products while construction work on the two storey market continues.
