A prominent hardware trader has been fined for failing to comply with the provisions of the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission Act 2010.
The trader was charged by the Commission on two separate counts.
The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission found the trader to be engaging in unfair business tactics.
This was a result of investigations into the Homes CARE and Farms CARE initiatives.
The trader was charged and taken to court where a total fine of $10,000 was imposed.
The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission has 10 remaining cases before the courts relating to the Homes CARE and Farms CARE investigations.
The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission has stated that this should come as a clear warning to other traders who are thinking of engaging in unfair business practices especially as we head into the festive period.
