Minister for Defense, National Security and Immigration Timoci Natuva says priority is now given to the rural areas for every Police Post to have a police vehicle.
He also says they need more than 30 vehicles and they have mentioned to the Minister of Finance about the number of vehicles the Fiji Police Force is lacking.
Natuva made these comments while responding to a question from Government Whip Semi Koroilavesau yesterday who asked the Minister to inform the Parliament what measures have been taken by the Fiji Police Force to improve its service delivery.
Natuva says Police officers have been directed to ensure reports are attended to as the issue of poor response has been one of the main contributors of complaints against Police.
He says there are many challenges facing the Fiji Police Force, however this is not an excuse for poor service delivery as all Fijians have high expectations on what is required of all Police officers.
Natuva says they are going through a transition and are conducting training to lift the standard of the Fiji Police Force to international standards.
