External exams in primary schools begin on Monday.
Parents of students from some schools in Suva raised concern last week that their children had not received their index numbers and exam timetables.
We raised the issue with the Education Minister Doctor Mahendra Reddy.
Reddy confirmed yesterday that when students are enrolled in school, they are registered into the Fiji Education Management Information System, and that ID is their index number.
He says all students in the schools have to be registered in the Fiji Education Management Information System in order to sit for the exams.
Reddy says that the Exams Office has continuously checked with all schools and the students are registered.
He says there is no chance of any student not being registered.
When the highlighted schools were contacted today, all students had received their index numbers, however a school in Suva has not given out index numbers.
They will paste the numbers on the students’ desks on the day of their exam.
Year 8 students will sit for their external exams on Monday and Tuesday while the Year 6 students’ exams will be held on Wednesday and Thursday.
