President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau says religious freedom is an important foundation to a stable nation.
While opening the 2nd national Hindu conference in Suva , Nailatikau continued to emphasize the provision in our Constitution that allows individuals the freedom to practice a religion of his or her choice, whilst at the same time contributing positively to the overall good of the nation.
He told delegates present at the conference that our Constitution not only promotes religious freedom, but it importantly decries all forms of discrimination on the basis of one’s religion.
The National Hindu conference is largely meant to create awareness to encourage the participation of a wide cross section of society in important and often life-enhancing and life-saving events.
