The President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau has commended and congratulated the Fiji National University and the Vice Chancellor Dr Ganesh Chand for hosting the International Food Festival and the International Conference on Oceans and Rivers.
Speaking at the opening ceremony this morning, Ratu Epeli stressed that international events like the Food Festival and the Conference on Oceans and Rivers are a great learning experience for our youth.
He said that educating youth on the importance of being environmentally conscious is vital in the preservation and sustainability of our environment for our future generations.
He added that as much as development is important, the protection and conservation of natural resources, which we are also blessed with, is our responsibility.
Ratu Epeli also stressed to all Fijians to strive and re-educate themselves to live a balanced life with eating healthy and also living a healthy lifestyle.
Food tastes from more than 30 countries will be displayed at the weeklong food festival in Nadi.
