A newly refurbished and equipped International Women’s Association LAU Ward worth of over $112,000 was opened at the CWM Hospital today.
While speaking at the opening of the ward, President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau thanked the International Women’s Association, a non-profit charitable organisation for funding the project.
Ratu Epeli says the ward will have 18 beds and will cater for the women admitted in the hospital department of internal medicines.
Ratu Epeli highlights that by next month the IWA is expected to donate an equipment to the CWM, Emergency Department worth of $40,000.
He adds the International Women’s Association has spent over $400,000 in the past 3 years to accomplish the project work in the fields of health and education.
Ratu Epeli says last year the organisation donated 19 outreach packages for the whole country community reach with widespread health facilities around Fiji at a cost of about $130,000.
He further adds the IWA transformed the former Oxfam Clinic into a world class facility, offering a holistic approach to women’s reproductive health.
