NCD’s and related ailments are a scourge and present threat to national, social and economic progress which requires collective attention and remedial action.
The President Jioji Konrote highlighted this while speaking at the 3rd Annual Scientific Conference for the Internal Medicine Organization of the Pacific.
Konrote says that the right to health is indispensable to realizing the rights to life and dignity for all people.
He adds that Fiji is making significant headway towards overcoming most of these ailments and challenges.
Meanwhile President of the Internal Medicine Organization of the Pacific Joji Malani says that for many years Fiji did not have a voice in discussing the important issues related to NCDs and related ailments.
Malani says that this is due to the lack of physicians in Fiji and the Pacific.
He says that during the conference the IMOP will be discussing new developments to help tackle this issue as there are 40 doctors from 10 countries that are present at the event which will help immensely in this.
The Annual Scientific Conference for the Internal Medicine Organization of the Pacific will end today.
