President Jioji Konrote has encouraged all Fijians to take time out and do sufficient exercise today, as we celebrate National Sports and Wellness day.
As Fiji’s Champion in our National campaign against Non Communicable Disease, Konrote says physical wellness means activity as well as reviewing our diet.
He says these will complement each other and for the impact to be really effective we need to reduce our salt intakes, drinking less sweetened drinks and food, to eating more vegetables and not so much of carbohydrates.
He says relevant ministries and stakeholders can only do so much in promoting healthy living and inventions.
He adds the onus is up to the general public and individual Fijians to take ownership of their health.
The Fiji Association of Sport and National Olympics Committee organized a fun run in Suva and Lautoka division while the ministry of Youth and Sports, together with the Fiji Sports Commission organized over 50 centres around the country for communities to enjoy and take part in the programs organized.
